Central Florida Getaways of the Day

Rock Springs Run is an 8.5 mile stretch of gently flowing, clear spring water through an unspoiled Florida forest -- and it's 30 minutes out of downtown Orlando. The spring-fed stream can be canoed or kayaked in about four hours. The current is strong enough that much of that time, however, you can float and maybe just steer a little.

I've enjoyed Rock Springs run the few times I attempted to go up it starting from the Wekiva. The current is so strong it is difficult to paddle up it.

We love going to Rock Springs. Bring snorkeling gear to enjoy the fish and turtles. It's also a great place to look for fossils.

I will definitely check it out. I love this blog! It's helped me plan my springs summer - see where I've been lately:

question (maybe a really dumb one): do I have to worry about dangerous snakes or alligators while swimming in the spring run i describe in the My Blue Springs blog post? (I'm not a Florida native). Thanks.
